underheating ?
« on: 22 October 2015, 13:47:15 »

Hi all
right  . . . have noticed this possible problem from a day or 2 after I got it ( '02 silver 3.2 elite auto )

The temp gauge seems very slow to climb  to normal 85 ish reading .  Sometimes it will be 20 miles before it starts to climb . Cabin heat  though  is one of the fastest heat ups I've ever  had on any of my 7 omegas & is noticeably warm  after less than a mile  or so , or a couple of minutes if parked on the drive, from cold.

In traffic queue,  once gauge is reading , it will rise to 95 ish  from 85 ish  & fans kick in & bring it down to 85 again .

I was thinking stuck open thermostat  , but cabin heat up from cold  is fast  :-\

Tried the "feel the top hose " theory from cold & there does not seem to be a sudden rush from cold to hot as when the thermostat opens  . . . just steadily warms ups constantly it seems :-\ :-\

Coolant was changed along with water pump when Daz done the cambelt 2 months ago

Any thoughts ?      TIA       Al :y

I would agree Al, my thoughts would be thermostat.

Typical scenario would be normal temp in slow traffic then temp drops on a run.
