Rear Diff Bushes
« on: 23 October 2015, 18:42:03 »

Can they cause rattling noises from the rear on rough roads?

New shocks on back, subframe bushes too. Springs fine, checked them. But it's still not as good as it once was. Maybe because it's all new it's quite stiff  :-\

183k - Diff not been lowered in about 2 years, nor jacked on at any time.

No. Not if in good order as you suggest. Or even if utterly oppsed....

If the bolts where loose maybe.

Have you checked  the basics like the spare is still secure, nothing rattling around in the wheel well, heat Shields loose....?. No crap in the boot, everything tied down.....? Etc

Checked LPG tank, everything feels solid. Will double check spare tyre, I'm tempted to empty the boot of all junk and see how it is.

The rear shock top mounts are compressed to same as 3.2, did wonder if it was them.  Think it's supposed to be 20Nm, but they never exactly tighten up. Does not appear to be one side either, wonder  :-\

At a bit of a loss, the 3.2 is far smoother over the same roads and it's not running SL kit either.

Heat shields are off the 2.2, I junked them some time ago. But I will empty the boot  :)

The heat shield over the back box rattles on mine. I tried to fit some larger washers to make up for the holes in the heat shield having rusted oversize but the 6mm studs have rusted and the first one I tried to shift sheared off.

I am not going to take it off because it is the only thing between a hot exhaust and a plastic fuel tank :o

I'll take a look at them  :)

I'm tempted to swap the top mounting kit back to GM from the MaxTrac ones supplied. Long shot that though  :-\

No longer made... Can be rebuilt, but haven't had the time to get stuck in... Will be my winter project, as work quietens down... Hope to be able to refurbish dead ones but will need all the bits of the old ones :y

Ring Jason at All German, he sent me some made by Febi IIRC. Can get you part numbers if needed, just drop me a PM. If we are talking about the same ones...

Probably not...these are the diff mounts that have failed not the subframe bushes.
