Hi Tech Speed Cameras
« on: 31 October 2015, 18:19:32 »

Have been noticing new speed Cameras being erected lately on M40/A40 and on A406 Neasden London. Interestingly it's the set up that concerns me. 2 Cameras mounted overhead, then 20yards or so in front 8 flash heads mounted in Series. On my in to London this morning on M40/A40, I see the there is a Lovely Sign stating.. As of 26 Oct New Advance Speed Cameras in Force ???.  Does Anyone know what these things capable of. I.e are similar to Average Speed Cameras and if so why are the Flash thingys in front of them. Or Has Tech moved on so much now these things are capable of monitoring 1000s of vehicles at a time and should speed up to much between them, when you arrive at next camera, you get singled out and get Flashed regardless of approach speed. I hope I'm completely wrong Guys... :-X

Spotted these on a ride into central London. They are more advanced average cams, look more reliable at night as you say due to the flood lights.

They are simple really, capture number plate going through, at the next site of camera, plate read again. Calculates average speed, if over the limit = ticket

No flash to be seen, as cameras are flood lit

Mobile Cameras mounted on high Tripods

Sound more like ANPR cameras to me those do, where there any traffic cars lurking about anywhere???

Oh Sh-- ! 78 too late ACPO guidelines on a 70mph limit  anything above 10% + 2 = 79mph, but its easy for em with a camera  ::) ::) ::)

I was braking as I approached them, can't be 100% on speed, but Definitely in 70s. No cars or vans to be seen even after bridge nothing in mirror. Will have to wait and see :-X

Waste of money speed cameras in London.
1st nobody can go fast enough.
2nd all cars are registered to "his cousin who is out of the country" :)
