I'll admit, I'm making assumptions, but as it's a Sky Box, chances are The Bear has been receiving Freeview from the Satellite Dish.  :-\

If so, the BT Box will not work.
I've never heard of a 'sky box' with a freeview card either, but it's obviously got a decoder for a terrestrial signal. Someone has set it up somehow. :-\
Picture of the backs of existing and new please, Webby.

EDIT: posted before Webby's last reply.

When you cancel a Sky Subscription, the Sky Box effectively becomes a FreeView Box, receiving Digital Broadcasts through the Sat Dish.  The card will just be a de-funct Sky Card.
It becomes a freesat dish.
Correct - I am keeping the terminology to a minimum for Webster!  :y
Yes...but you can't use a dish for a BT box.  ;D

If you have one of these on the wall, chances are you have an Aerial.  How effective that Aerial will be to receive Digital Broadcasts is unknown until you try it.

yes, we have those on a socket on the wall. but would the aerial not have been removed when sky dish was installed?

Unlikely, and if you can't see it on your Roof, it'll be in the loftspace.

How capable that Aerial is, is unknown until you try.

Grab yourself a Coax lead with Male UK type connections and give it a blast - You never know, you might be lucky.

Steve posted exactly the cable you need.

Just to clarify things further, this picture shows (Left - RF Type) (Right - F Type)

(RF is for Aerials) (F Type is for Cable & Sky)

Well, seeing as there is no Analogue Signal broadcast anymore (for domestic use, anyway), ALL aerials on the market will be DVB-T (most being DVB-T2).  What is important is knowing the signal strength (distance from transmitter, anything 'in the way' of the signal, Heavy 4G usage in the area etc).  That will determine how much you are likely to spend on an Aerial.

Example, a simple 12dB yagi aerial is unlikely to receive satisfactory full HD signal at any sort of range beyond 10 miles.  A powered Amplified 50dB will handle Full HD and 3D at a greater distance.

The most common misconception is that a special digital aerial or one for high-definition is required. In fact, any new aerial, if properly installed, is capable of receiving a digital signal, as well as a high-definition signal.
