With All This Talk Of Cambelts
« on: 04 November 2015, 23:23:34 »

So am i correct in saying that if i..

1. Rotate the crank to TDC (Notches at the top on cams.) Clockwise
2. Fit locking kit
3. Remove belt
4. rotate crank 90 degrees (clockwise)

Now i can rotate any of them camshafts till my hearts content..

Then To get back to normal i :-

1.get cams at TDC
2. turn crank 90 degrees to TDC (anti clockwise)
3. Locking kit in
4. Fit belt.

The way i see it is at 90° ATDC The pistons are all level at midstroke.. so there is no danger anywhere

On a 4 pot, yes

On a 6 pot you'll never get them all mid way at the same time, so 60deg btdc is the safest bet :y

90 degrees on a 4 cyl, 60 degrees on a v6. Both BTDC, not after.

You need to be in this position **BEFORE** removing belt.

Refit is to lock cams in correct position, then rotate crank (clockwise only) to TDC and refit belt.
