BT Infinity Deal
« on: 13 November 2015, 16:45:20 »

BT have offered me an Infinity/Phone deal, which will cost me less than my current broadband/phone contract.

The new hub will operate on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz.

Which one should I run it on?

I would try 5 first, less people on that one. Will the Hub not do both together.

Also depends how old your connecting devices are, most will be on 2.4, despite 5 being around for a long time.

5G is less busy, so outdoor range can increase and/or speeds improve. BUT not all devices support it, AND it doesn't penetrate walls so well.  So its a case of seeing what works best for you, which will be based on your own house construction and what the neighbours have.

BT Mobile is (currently) and MVNO off EE, so you'll find good, fast 4G coverage in more areas than the competition, but the higher 2G/3G frequencies will again impact penetration, affecting voice calls.

Everything is a slight compromise.

I'm a (direct) EE customer, and can manage 40Mbps when upstairs :D.  But downstairs, 3G only.
