Only guessing but would the parts be MUCH MUCH MUCH more expensive on a Shogun  :-\

Fixed that for you. Mitsubishi translates as HOW oppsing much???!!!!!!!

Shoguns tend to have fewer mechanical niggles than a Range Rover; but the catastrophic failures make up for that. They rust almost as badly, drive like a truck and have nasty interiors.

What P38 engine would you recommend , petrol/diesel ?

Petrol!!! The ol' 2.5 beemer engine is very agricultural in one of those, especially the auto, put ya foot down and...something nothing happens  ??? ::)

Did they only do a V8 petrol  :-\
I see they are quite reasonably priced . Many have had the rear air bladders ripped out

Yup, either 4.0 or the 4.6 v8

They have air bags on ALL corners and to be honest if you get a good un, i.e. the suspension works correctly and maintained they are 100 times better than the ones converted to springs. Changing the bags on them is a doddle to do if they ever start to sag anyway, so is replacing the pump and valve seals on the valve block. I know, I replaced bags / pump etc. on both P38's I owned.

I will keep a look out for a half decent one then . There's always a bargain to be had ... now where's that video of wheeler dealers P38  :)

well tbh EMD if you are looking at either an old ML or an X5 you might as well buy a P38 all as unreliable but P38 parts are a little cheaper and can be fixed by most garages

Ive seen some nightmare tin worm on those mate , not for the faint hearted unless all the rot has been cut out and new welded in  :) What P38 engine would you recommend , petrol/diesel ?

it got to be the V8 and if it is gassed even better as for rot that's landrover for you but there are rot free/rot removed p38 to be had

I would prefer a full 12 months mot as standard on that 4.0 , that would clinch the deal for me  or more piece of mind that its got nothing serious hiding .

MOT check finds the normal wear and tare items but i'd imagine a car of this vintage would of had all the major stuff sorted  :-\
