Freeview Play
« on: 19 November 2015, 03:18:34 »

anyone got this yet?  is it as good as it it claims:

"To put it simply: it’s catch up made easy. Find programmes from BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, All 4 and Demand 5 sitting alongside up to 60 TV channels and 12 HD channels. Simply scroll back in your TV guide to watch shows you missed from the last 7 days. "

i.e. does it make a recorder redundant?  i have this feeling it won't be simple to use but must be better than ferreting about various sites on the internet for catchup.

Its basically a Freeview HD receiver box (Aerial Off Air) with a built in App to run the Main 5 TV Catch Up Channels (Internet) on board. Or if you want to pay a bit more dosh it comes with a Off Air Hard Drive recorder as well.

If your happy with your Freeview, and like you say 'have to fuff around' with the PC for catch up, then I would just buy a NowTV box, there only £10, has the Big 5 free TV catch up Apps built in, connects to your WiFi Internet, plug the Box into your TV, job done, plus you can also get basic Sky TV shows and Movies if you want to buy an additional 'pay as you go' monthly Sky Pass.

Either way, make sure you have unlimited Internet allowance as the watching catch up via your TV can hammer your Internet allowance.
