Driverless electric car racing coming next year!
« on: 30 November 2015, 20:39:40 »

I can just about get that you could programme racing cars to be able to "race" each other but what is the point?

You are highly unlikely to be excited about car 44 because it is programmed by a bunch of kids from Loughborough Uni or Instituto Tecnológico Autonomo de México.

The whole point for me is seeing someone like Max Verstappen who does ultra daring overtakes and then shows he is human by making mutiple boo boos like at Yas Marina.

Still it is coming next year

Perhaps if people are willing to go and see a film where a CGI character goes around a CGI world, and fights with CGI baddies, with CGI explosions, maybe people will tune in to this. I suppose its the direction of the world, plastic, fake, pretend, simulated.

I've always said people come to see the Red Arrows because of the skill of the pilot, and consequently if these were pilotless drones with pre-programmed flightpaths, no-one would pay a penny to see it. But perhaps this is the future.

Perhaps driving a car with automatic 'everything' makes my viewpoint hypocritical.. maybe I need to buy a caterham!
