Insurance
« on: 15 July 2008, 21:30:22 »

Well it's that time of the year and my insurance is up for renewal.  So, I've spent some time on Tesco Compare and Go Compare.  Both of which bring up prices more than my renewal of £315.

Then I go back to my usual trick and look at Bell and Elephant (I'm currently with Admiral) to find that I can beat my renewal with both of them.  Which is ironic as all three are part of the same parent company!

In the end Admiral can't match Elephant so this year's insurance is less than last years: £244.  I would have to check my records, but I think it has gone down every year since I've had the Omega!

Good work! I use those comparison sites to find the top 10 cheapest - then just go to their websites and try direct - funny how it is always cheaper  ::)

I have always been surprised at how cheap the insurance on my Mig has been. Im 24 but I only pay £200. Cheap as chips  :y

I have found Elephant very good, but this year found that Marks and Spencer were cheaper for swmbo, certainly pays to shop around these days..... :) :) :)

I generally switch between Elephant and Admiral each year.  I go with one for a year as they want my business.  Then at renewal it goes up a few quid, so I switch to the other.

However I do give them the chance to match the lower renewal quote from the other company, but this year Admiral were still £40 adrift.

This is for a fully comp policy with two additional named drivers but then I have racked up 12 years no claims etc.

I usually go on confused .com (yeah ok..!) & end up renewing with Budget. £1 cheaper than last year. 8-)

I pay 500 FC on my LPG's MV6.  28yo with a big black mark against my licence in 2004. Not too bad really for me.

The black mark in 2004 is about 1 month long...  i got this trying for the world land speed record in a veccy ;D
