A friend of mine recently put £200 down on a car without seeing it, had the RAC do an inspection and when it came back with lots of problems she cancelled the deal.  Last I heard She was struggling to get her money back.  ::)

That might not happen to you though, but I'd offer 99p just in case.  :y

How much is the deposit?

If it's say around £50 and you want the car and you believe he's genuine enough then that sounds reasonable enough to me.. There's always some element of risk with a despoit depends if you think the car is worth the risk :-\

Have you seen the car/owner in person?

Cant see the car until i go to pick it up but ive asked all the relevant questions ect . £100 deposit .

Guess you'd want a deposit if you were selling - always a level of risk paying any deposit, but if you want the goods its a no brainer.  Can't see why you need to ask this question on a forum  ???

^This^

Even if you add the fees onto the final bill.
That way, your covered under the PayPal protection umbrella.

If the seller has a problem, he is hiding something so tell him to opps off  ;)

Paypal seems the best option , hope he has a paypal account . Yes i can see why he would want a deposit to secure the sale and avoid people that keep breaking promises and not turning up . Seems a genuine enough bloke to me and has replied  to all my questions with knowledge  ;)

For 99p certainly not. For anything north of thirty quid I would need to think about it. ::) ::) ::)

About a quarter of a century ago we hired a 1.8 litre fuel injected Belmont to drive to Scotland. I liked it despite the fact it handled like a puppy on waxed lino.

Quick and torquey it well well enough. Badged SXI and not SRI, if memory serves.
