Both MrsGK and I tend to drive like we have eight seconds to save the planet, the MV6 has TC pads on and theyre more than good enough for us.

By Omega standards anyway....
Indeed, in the budget end, TC pads are by far the best. At £15 for fronts, why mess around?

Can't argue with that ;)

surely if the pads are down to the sensor the light would stay on.

Yes, once the track on the sensor has worn through, it should stay on. A light that comes on when you press the pedal sounds to me more like it's fluid level, TBH. Actually, the brake wear sensors bring up a message on the MID, not the light on the instrument panel. (on my facelift, at any rate)

GLS put a light on for pads, anything else should pop a message up. :-\

Could simply be that all the pads are getting low rather than the sign of a significant issue :y My mk2 Granada used to put the fluid light on before the pad warning, which rather defeated the purpose ;D

As others say, there will be a message on MID if it`s the pads that are worn.

As for the pads themselves my vote is for OE, not cheap but worth the money IMHO.

I use OE on one Omega and TC on the other.

As OE are now quite dusty (like TC ones), I'd say the biggest advantage is that they bite better when the car has been left for a day unused, whereas TC ones appear to need to be used gently first before they have any bite.

I've got TC on mine and would probably say the same. I feel there's a definite increase in braking efficiency/feel after they've 'warmed up'  :)

Yes. And why confused? The OE pads are what was fitted in the factory. The TC are a slightly cheaper GM alternative.  :y

I think the logic is if you make the (TC) 'decent-enough' pads cheap then there's no excuse for anyone not having gm pads fitted. Just acquired a set of the genuines, too (part number 9195077) so whenever I get to fit them, we'll see how they perform on the old girl. Got TC ones with barely 6k on them currently and personally very happy with them, but know a few have said you can tell the difference, so we shall see  :)

Nor did I until relatively recently. It's something worth keeping your eye out for, actually, as almost all the time Omega GM pads for sale are the TC ones, and rarely any £ difference from just getting them from Main Dealer.. but every now and then the higher-grade ones will slip through. Got mine for £20  :y
