Reasonably easily tell the TC apart from the OE ones...

TC are marked 9192124 and RRP £28.00 + VAT - approx £15 on TC

OE are marked 9195077 RRP £91.50 + VAT

As said, the OEs are reputed to give a better bite and emit less dust. Both carry provision for brake pad wear sensors.  :)

trw disks and pads been good for me. £8.50 for the pads £17.50 for the disks.  plus £5 for a can of hi temp spray paint for the edges.

That's very cheap! I suspect I would have heat dispersion issues and brake fade with my driving style (never found cheap disks to be any good on any vehicle) but if they work for you...  :y

I've used Mintex discs and pads for years, not only on my Omegas but also on more modern cars. They fit well, have a good bite /feel, come with anti squeal compound /shims and if necessary fixing bolts as standard. Last set I got for the 3.2 cost a total of approx £60. Worth every penny IMHO.
Incidentally, TRW are an American firm that specialise in OEM quality products including brakes. Used their discs and pads previously on other cars with no issues.

Good quality discs have a higher carbon content in the steel, cheaper discs use recycled steel,
If your car is stood for day how rusty do disc's get. Higher carbon less surface rust. :y

Trade club pads and pagid discs on mine. No problems.

Known to be problematic on Omegas if pushed hard.

Got TC ones with barely 6k on them
TB is jealous. Or DBG clearly isn't trying hard enough.

I find beyond 5k, they are over half worn, and you start to get fade after a few big stops in quick succession.

That will impact any Omega pad (actually any pad on any car - its just the Omega is heavy with an "adequate" pad size), as heat dissipation seems to fall off as the pad wears.

What about mine then? It's still got whatever was fitted(I've never been interested enough to look) to the front months before I bought it almost 5 years ago. I have done 45,000 miles on them, and I am not a slow driver. Plus whatever mileage the previous owner, who paid for the work, did.

I think we had this discussion over some big crisps one pleasant evening a few weeks ago (despite me being in the doghouse for breaking her phone ;D).  I think we should revisit it on Tuesday, over the big crisp course ;D :y

Yes, we have and we should. I expect we will reach the same conclusion too, with each of us left wondering how the hell do you manage it??? ;D

Hahah!!!  :D

Certainly I'm not trying hard enough! £15 for front pads? Once every maybe 45k? Extortionate! I'm not saying I'm tight, but the reason I live at the top of hill is because I can coast some of the way to work in the morning.  :y
