Seconded. If the car's unlocked, then you just need the above biggriffin suggests. The chap with Captain Chaos as his avatar did it on his own motor, due to losing his keys.

The only reason to go down the main dealer/Timpsons etc route is if you really, really want to have the exact same key cut that your car left the factory with, the Dealer will use the carpass to cut you a new one. If you're not that fussed, then get a key, transponder and ECU and you're there.  :)

Thanks Guys for the suggestions. I think that I'll go down the "Second Hand Key, Lock and ECU route" from eBay. Once again, I am indebted to the Forum for all the help and advice.

Only buy if they include the car pass and reg/chassis number of the original vehicle, otherwise you're bollaxed if ever you need a new key/barrel/chip.

Secondhand ignition barrel is a false economy.

Personally I would source a new key/chip/fob from ebay, stump up the £55 ish for a new car pass and get your new blank key cut accordingly. Should still be cheaper than taking a punt on second hand.

Even my stealer will do me a carpass for £22+VAT.  £55 is the listed price that nobody pays.
