CCR2006 removal.
« on: 13 December 2015, 17:25:59 »

Having trouble removing the unit, keys seem to be slotted fully home but won,t budge. Just wondering if my shunt in the rear has distorted something. Any advice fellers please?

I hope yours isn't as bad as mine, I've given up trying to remove it - not had the wireless on for years!
Used the correct tools, it comes half-way out and no further and now will not go fully back, leaning about an inch sticking out.
Do please let me know if you solve your problem.....

Ron.

Decent double din tools. Eject 4-disc magazine, insert tools, ease pass. side tool to left with hand/fingers in magazine slot, HU should move slightly on L/H side. Repeat the procedure on driver`s side. HU should then come out. I`ve used this procedure on around a dozen HU`s including the NCDCXXXX and never had one break off the fascia or stick in the cage

Double check that the Din tools are engaged, ease both outwards and gently pull on HU whilst moving tools side to side

Tried again this afternoon, still no joy. Good quality keys snapped right home, facia of unit came off but rest solid as a rock :( Had a word with the guy who works at the factors i bought the new stuff from (he is fitting it for me) and he has had advice/info that the switches on either side of unit (hazards etc) need removing first. Surely this is billhooks. Whats your take on that chaps? :-\

Used cheap ones to pull mine and a few others out, but you need to carefully modify them as below to get a good purchase  ;)

Have a look to see if you still have the 4 securing lugs which attach the face to the unit - 2 at the top and 2 in the middle and the 2 small screws at the bottom. Without these the unit will never sit flush to the dashboard. Face removal on the CCR2006 requires the two single DIN sections to be spilt to release the lugs.

I have had similar problems. I removed the switches or dummies at the sides of the head unit, then prised the whole cage out with thin screwdrivers. Once out I was able to separate cage from head unit.

Amazing how much trouble these radios can give you guys. We, as professional radio fitters / repairers have no problems at all, but it involves a few minutes with a needle file. Once you have bought your removal tools, you need to file a flat lip like this picture shows, and this gives the radio something to latch against, and it will then pull out (it is still tight though) If you do not file this sharp edge, and you try with a set of tools to remove it, the smooth edges of the tools will never engage with the sides of the radio and you may well end up pulling the fascia off with the resultant sideways force. Never failed to pull a radio out FIRST ATTEMPT with tools shaped this way
