what's a bus?  ::) ::)

Its a free method of transport home .... easier than walking 6 miles .. :)  man turns up at a stipulated time with this big blue & red thing, you get on and flash a little thing - bit like a credit card - at this weird box at the front, and the man says thank you and asks you to take a seat. For some reason, if its full, nice young people stand and offer you their seats...... When you reach your destination he stops, opens the doors for you, and allows you to disembark ...   all very civilised and costs nothing ...  :)

Significant differences to a northern bus then...

Or a London one!

Its a roadblock, maneuvered by arrogant tosspots who believe they have the morel highground, and thus own the highway.

You seem to have missed out someone getting stabbed, and then waiting 4.5hours broken down in the middle of the road somewhere.

And sitting in a three-day-old macdonalds. And the 'loon'...there's always a loon.

Depending if you wanted to go 'cut out and replace with new' or 'stick a patch over it' method, I was looking into sills myself not long ago, they seem reasonably easy to source.

EDIT: here!  :)

http://www.autopanels-castleford.co.uk/webpages/VAUXHALL/Vauxhall%20Omega.htm

Looking at that they only seem to offer pre- 99 panels ...mind you .. I have no idea if there is any difference between pre/post 99 cills !!
Same :y

Found a couple of small holes on mine when I was sorting the car over the summer... Been patched and fingers crossed that should see it right for a couple of years.

Be worth changing the sills as they  rust under the kick plates, along the bottom edge and behind the top edge of the cover... So rather than mess about, migut as well get it done once as the car is clearly a keeper ;)

Wow, not usually seen one fail on cills  :o

Any photos?
How's this for a photo?

Mine failed due to rotten sills. The sill covers do a great job of hiding the rot.

Everything that's silver was a flaky, rusty mess... All the way along, both sides... Got a dust pan full of crusty crud from the two of them. Only two holes all in all, so not a moment too soon :-\

Silver paint was Dinitrol, over coated with satin black followed by a coat of stone chip protection.

My 2.2 is rusting badly underneath, I do wonder about the cills now.  :-[

Just heard from the garage ... both "outer" cills have gone in various places along the whole length, all points coincide with the attachment points for the sideskirts .. (I wonder if its dissimilar metal corrosion at the screw points) .. they have not been able to source outer cills - I have given them the number on DBG's link - many thanks for that. If they can't obtain replacement cills they will fabricate something suitable ...  total cost about £400 inc VAT to complete the job. Sounds reasonable to me so permission to go ahead granted. I "might" get the car back by the weekend !

Hmm. Sorry to hear this. Sounds like it might be worth all of us having the skirts off and rustproofing the mounting points... :(

It's probably a bit late for that if a well-cared for car like Nigel's is that bad.

Depends. IIRC, Nigel's has the Irmscher kit. Wondering if they were disturbed when that got fitted?
