Omega pre-facelift boot release/open handle
« on: 10 January 2016, 21:07:04 »

Hello,

I washed my car yesterday and here where I live we have -8 celsius. So today without even thinking about it I came to my car and wanted to open my trunk, grabbed the handle, tried to open, nothing like that happened, only little cracking sound. And from this point doesn`t matter if trunk is locked or unlocked, handle operates same way and doesn`t open. I tried to warm it up by puting it in warm garage, but same thing still.

I would be very happy if someone can help me and tell me how to open my trunk from this point?

If it is frozen water holding it down, I would leave it in the warm garage overnight and see how it feels in the morning.

I have tried that. Is there a way to open the lid from inside the trunk?

No. The boot handle is locked irrespective of the central locking when the lock is horizontal and locks/unlocks when it's vertical

the lock is working, i can lock/unlock with key, but despite that, when i operate handle to open the lid, lid stays closed, and no snap(opening) sound.

Maybe, but I tried to use the force to open the lid, and whole ass of the car goes up and down, but not the lid. And as I said before, the handle operates same way with no click(trunk release sound) locked or unlocked. :( I can get to the inside of the trunk from the interior, but maybe somebody knows is there a way to open the trunk from the inside? :/ I just need to open it and from that moment I will fix whatever happened to it. :|

I believe (never tried it, though) that you could pop the trim off the inside of the boot even with the lid closed. You can then gain access to the lock / motor / solenoid etc, and be able to see if, when someone else operated the handle, if the mechanism inside moves.

You'll need the seats down, and possibly have a fair amount of time on your back, grunting, but should be doable.

Yep, just a little scewdriver and thru the interior. Poped open right away, but problem is that I broke the handle, it's plastic and that sucks.
