The last two nights the taskbar has been unresponsive after start up, the windows key brings up the start menu but I`m unable to open anything, the pointer doesn`t highlight anything.
After one or two shutdowns and restarts it`s ok but it`s odd that it has started behaving like this.
This is my desktop and its Windows 10 pro, any ideas?
right click the windows logo bottom left, chose "Command prompt (admin)"
in the text box that appears type
SFC /scannow then press enter
DO NOT close this box until the system file check is complete .. it can take about an hour but usually about 15 minutes, you will get one of four responses at the end ..
1, no integrity violations ..... the check found no errors
2, could not perform the required operation .... either not in admin mode or no access to system files .. try running in safe mode
3, found corrupt files and successfuly repaired them ...... the most common, and best answer !!
4, found corrupt files but unable to repair them .... nasty .. the files need to be found from the CBS log and replaced manualy from another source ... doable but tedious, usually a complete "clean" install of windows is faster and better
