Does anyone know what the tread depth of a new Transit tyre is ?

My son has just had a 30,000 mile service on his 14 month old Transit van, and he still has 5mm left on his front tyres and 7mm on the rears.
I find this apparent lack of wear quite remarkable, unless he started off with about 16mm.
So whats with the lack of wear then guys, he isnt one to dawdle about.

If it's correctly loaded and the pressures are right, then he's doing well... they might have started at around 10-12mm

Guessing from that wear, it's wrong wheel drive

It probably comes with "Eco" tyres too which are hard and not particularly grippy!

He's over half worn and they'll be past the best but still plenty of miles to go before they're illegal if he wants

Did wonder if there was a weight consideration, in which case that doesn't include Transit vans, proper or otherwise

63plate 125ps Transit.  Currently displaying ~127,000.  On 6th set of tyres (rear axle), 3rd set (front axle).  I only have Conti VanContact200's.

I carry very little weight (most of the time), so 20k for a set of tyres is pretty good for the arse end of a 'light' Transit.
