Terminating a SKY contract . .Help
« on: 06 February 2016, 18:29:57 »

Totally fed up with Sky TV now  . . .  only have it for the footer really . . but best Premier league games now all seem to be

on BT Sport  :'( :'(  I understood I was getting all the same Sports channels in this package , that I had with Virgin, but of

course Sky's  interpritation of All sports channels . . is all their sports channels. and now their coverage is crap

So just have to cancel my subscription when contract is up ?    Yer right  :o :o :o    it seems it is a nightmare to get shot

of them from what I am reading online.

So . .  present contract is the second one I have subscribed to & this  started on 9th May 2015 for 12 months, so will end

on 8th May 2016   :y

It seems to me the best way to get rid of them  (SKY )  is to write to them via recorded post with the 31 days notice they

require . ::)   I will probably send a secondary e mail as well stating the same ,just to be sure.

My question is  . . can I do that now ? , stating I wish to terminate the contract on 8th May 2016 & do not want any Sky

services after this date.  This of course will be way over their required 31 days notice ;)

Reason for asking is that on doing some research into this , there are some real horror stories of customers not easily  being

able leave when their contract is ended .

Any advice , from any oofers appriciated    TIA   Al

They'd have a job arguing if you rang 150 thirty days before your contract was up, told them you were leaving them and cancelling your direct debit after the next payment. The only difficulty is that you pay some stuff in advance, so you could cancel your dd straight away and ask them to send you a final invoice.

I'm going to change my contract with three to sim only when my contract is up in April. They will try and make it awkward, I'm sure, but it will happen. :)

You  can cancell at anytime, 1 day after you took it out if you want "Giving Notice" as long the Notice of Termination is ending on the agreed Contract Period.

This all seems pretty straightforward:

http://help.sky.com/articles/remove-a-package-or-cancel-your-subscription

It may seem straightforward Steve . . . but from what I read  it was far from it . However since Ofcom have got involved it may be easier now.  You simply do not get a reply from online chat if you select "Cancel Sky " button ::)

Anyway gonna send the e mail & a letter terminating on 8th May.   Will keep you posted :-\ :-\

I recently cancelled my sky tv as the contract was up and it was very straight forward. They like to find out why your cancelling (i told them i never seemed to be in to watch it)

I have kept the broadband and phone with them and they did me a deal of half price fiber for 12 months on a new 12 month contract but have cancelled my tv with the 30 days notice so tv goes off at end of feb.

Just ring up and cancel? Sky score top out of all big media company's for customer contact.

Simply call within notice period (30 days before 8th May) stating to cancel, it's straight forward enough?

Just don't get the gist of what you're saying, Al. Ring up on 150 and cancel.

It's really easy to be honest.

The only thing is, they will call you a couple of days after you cancel to offer you a slice of the Moon* and a Peach Yoghurt* to entice you to stay.

*Not necessarily those things..... Depends what they have in stock at the time.
