well f**k me sideways
« on: 14 February 2016, 09:10:35 »

I believe ive just changed my rear shocks for no reason at all... the clonking and knocking ive been hearing at the rear suspension turns out i was missing the 2 steel tubes in the top shock rubber mount. So the shocks where flooping about like a dick in a bucket. The ones i took off are the self levelers too :-[

Wouldnt risk flogging them to an OOF member incase they fail not long after... these are the original self levelers too as the car has only done 61k . Think ill keep them as spares.
Ive taped up the ends of the air lines so dust doesnt get inside.

I think the advice was to put the SL shocks back on, esp if you are still using SL springs, else you may find premature failure of the new shocks. Obviously, if you have non SL springs, its up to you if you want to retain SL shocks or not.

If you keep used SL shocks in storage, I think you'll find they will fail as the shock body behind the rubber corrodes at an accelerated rate.
