Classic status? It's a fickin 1.6 golf, and not even a particularly good one.

If I owned a scrapyard, I would keep hold of all of my stock, it will be classic one day.  ;D

We all have very fond memories of the cars we used to drive, I loved my triumph herald. But if we jumped in them now, I would imagine we'd be very disappointed.

Have you seen the price of a 1971 1300L Escort recently?

Hell, I wish I still had the tidy, rustfree 1981 1.6GL Cortina that I sold 17 years ago for £75.

Because it is good as a car. And will be for sometime. There are  a lot of old cars that this applies to, and a lot more that are  just toys. It's not hard to figure out which ones are worth cost the most.

A two door Golf VR6 holds a certain appeal.

Picky up a 'ratty' one for less than £1000.

Since when has classic status been remotely linked to being a good car?  ;D. I'd pick it up if its clean and I had the space.

A car is worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. If a group of fifty somethings fancy a thirty year old, mass-produced ford and are willing to part with their hard-earned to spend hours 'fixing' something that wouldn't pull you out of bed.......who am I to disagree?
