What a bloody morning that was!!!!
« on: 18 March 2016, 17:13:28 »

7:40 this morning call comes in ........"Reports of 3 horses running free along Cherry Lane in Lymm, and it appears that they are just deciding whether to go down the slip road and either join the M56 or the M6 southbound!!!"

They chose the M6 southbound and brought the whole motorway to a standstill. We turned out and had to go northbound from Jct 19 & turn around at 20 to go south. Getting there was a 'mare' in itself as there are roadworks and lane 3 is shut, leaving the hard shoulder as a running lane (Seeing how hard shoulder running in the future WON'T WORK  ::) ::) ::) ).

Eventually after 40 minutes of threading the Beemer through the smallest of gaps between HGV's we get there to see 3 very large horses running around all 3 lanes completely spooked and petrified. It took us an age to coral them down an embankment and out of harms way, at one point I thought they were gonna jump the central reservation  :o :o :o

Then what REALLY P1$$ED me and my 3 other colleagues off was as we were leading the horses into an adjacent "safe" field out of harms way and calming them down 4 absolute "TWONKS" in HGV's thought it was funny to blast their horns at us / the horses  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

But you must have learned by now that, in the main, people are brain dead winkers. Well done for getting the horses to safety, I worry more for them than the 'superior' animals.

Surely Jason there's a law against that, and they should, and deserve to, get their "collars felt" as a result.
Having owned horses, I know first hand the difficulties of handling a frightened horse in traffic.  We had a guy a few years back who drove right up behind my young daughter and myself as we were out riding (single file me leading) on a narrow lane and hooted loudly.  I waved my daughter past as her pony was spooking, and as the guy hooted again I stopped mine, he drove up very close and as I expected my horse kicked out and smashed his headlight and damaged his front wing.  I waved "politely" and rode off leaving him examining the front of his car.

I have visited 2 of the companies in question already and spoke to their transport managers & from the reactions I got I'd be surprised if they were still in employment  :-X and they'll have a lovely letter awaiting them when they get home from me  ::) one wasn't local so he'll get a letter too. Wasn't quick enough for the 4th one  ::)

Funny you should say that...

I'm not normally one to bother ringing and complaining about standards of driving but I had cause to this week when a driver of a Plant Hire van forced me up a roundabout at 18:10 one evening and was oblivious to the fact that had I not taken avoiding action it would have been an accident. Got a letter yesterday apologising and saying that he is no longer employed by them :-X ::)
