AMG, according to those in the know, don't even know how to calculate handling characteristics, hence all AMG's are lary, as tthey randomly spec bits from a standard catalogue.  Without doubt, equivalent beemers are better cars, and are becoming a bit more desirable now cockman is moving over to VAG.

You wanna try owning a modern bm.
Or at least paying for one while it sits in their workshop for 3 months having main bearings replaced at 33k miles  ::)
Or being de-coked...
Or having the trim refitted because it's knackered...
Or replacing run flat tyres at $999999999 each...

Not to mention what an awful piece of crap their software that controls the 8 spd zf box is.

Yup, never said they were any good (Christ, I have a family of beemer owners ;D), just generally a better driving car than anything AMG (or Merc).

But if you're not into "driving", a Merc is a nice place to be for pootling around.

I would agree with you for the most part. I've owned and driven both bm and merc a plenty. The E63 however, perhaps by blind luck, who knows, doesn't fall into the usual mercedes mould of "just a nice way of getting from A-B in no mad rush".

My Uncle used to work for Ford and even though he's retired still gets a new car every 6 months.  He's going to try to get a Mustang and hopefully I'll get a test drive if he does!  :y

Note to self: Buy Uncle a birthday present!!  :D  ;D

That must have been quite painful for you to say.  ;D

Saw on of these new V8 Mustangs on the road today, very impressive looking car. Certainly put the 16 Plate Audi TT into perspective when they were side by side on the M25  ::)  ;D

Clearly. So much so that he omitted the "to estate agents" from the end. ;)
