2.2 cam sensor problem
« on: 13 April 2016, 15:35:26 »

Hi, hope somebody can help me with this issue. I had what appears to be a fairly common issue with my 2002 2.2 petrol, the engine light (one with spanner) would come on intermittently whilst driving but would not effect performance at all. It would then go off and come back as and when. Reading through the posts on here it seems that this was most likely a cam sensor problem, so I decided to replace and bought a pattern part off a Vauxhall specialist website. After I had replaced the cam sensor the engine was difficult to start and kept cutting out, I then read that people insist on a genuine Vauxhall part (Siemens one). I therefore repeated the process and put the old sensor back in and now the engine runs fine once more but the engine light is on permanently. Is this now simply a case of ordering a replacement Siemens unit and the fault should be fixed?

Thanks

Although its said many times on here that the pedal trick doesn't work on the 2.2,
I saw a post here a couple of months ago saying it does if you put the car in "D"

Must get hold of my old 2.2 to have a go  :-\

So code p1555 is throttle position Sensor and nothing to do with cam sensor as originally thought. Is this an easy fix?

clean breathers and throttle body. Check for air and vac leaks.
