Antennae broke off.
« on: 16 April 2016, 19:27:04 »

I was going to a car wash and the antennae was just spinning in place. The doors were opening and i panicked and ripped the whole thing off by the roots.
Now all i have is that plastic black rubber thing sticking out the roof and the antennae in my hand.

How do i put my antennae back? I want a easy simple 5 minute solution because i'm not motivated enough to start ripping off the roof lining and bolting off the whole thing because the car isn't even on the road atm.

It's a 2000 omega B wagon btw.

Depends how much damage you've done...  ...a pic would be great ;)

You can reach the aerial mount without removing the headlining, you can get enough access by prying the back edge down a bit.

The aerial mount is intact. But the screw bore that's in the aerial mount came off with the antennae.
So instead of seeing threads, there is just a hole with wires inside.
The antennae had a kind of a nut that has a needle in it attached to it.

So my only option is to remove the aerial mount? damn..

Ah that story sounds familiar. That's exactly how my aerial perished on the old Estate..  :-[ My solution was to listen to CDs.. ;D

But as Nick says - headlining drops down at the rear easy enough; IIRC I took out the central plastic piece, popped out the dome light and then pulled it down a bit. You can easily get to the nut on the underside of the base then and it's a 10 minute job to replace the lot once you've sourced the replacement.

In a car wash, when the doors open, you're supposed to drive in. When the doors close cause you wasted too much time fiddling with your antennae, you lose your money.
