Dipstick vanishes?

Neighbour has just bought a new Disco V6, and tells me it has no dipstick. W.T.F.? Is this the way forward??? :o :o :o

Yup. A friend's S5 has this. Uses an ultrasonic sensor iirc  ::)

It's so that when it (inevitably) goes wrong they can charge you many hundreds of pounds to replace it.

Thats progress for you, my Omega has something similar with the Petrol thing, has some magic contents gizmo on the dash clocks that tell you when to put more in.  ;D

My CLS 500 had the dipstick as an optional extra. About £20 I think. How tight can you get. :'(

I never really trusted what the electronic readout said. It was all over the place.

Much like the tax disc. A small disc in the corner of the windscreen that let's you know when you have to put your hand in your pocket. It worked, so why change it?

Is that not the same on the Omega Autobox

MFL has a gearbox dipstick
FL has not got one

  Our works 03 plate Vivaro van has no dipstick. Message in dash display lets you know when it needs topping up each time the ignition is turned on
