Here's what I've had since I was last here...
« on: 27 April 2016, 21:55:49 »

So, since I sold 'Big Blue', I've been around the doors a bit.

While I had Big Blue, my Wife was also driving this...

...Which was sold to another ABS/OOF member who then stuck a diseasel engine in it then crashed it and I don't know what happened to it after that.

When I sold the MV6, I bought this...

..Which proved to be a very capable and all round 'good' car but then the mid-life crisis kicked in and I sold it and bought this...

...Which I dicked about with for about 18 months and I reckon by the time I finished with it, it was good for 400bhp and I loved it until I realised I was to fat to get in and out of it gracefully so I decided this was a good idea...

...But, to cut a long story short, besides the amount of time it spent in the garage and the cost of replacing parts on the damned thing, I just couldn't get on with it, (I really wanted to love it but couldn't!), so I got this instead...

...Which has been fabulous for the last three years. It just does what it says on the tin, day in and day out. There isn't a good or bad day. It just does it and quickly too, but it transpires that my Wife won't drive it so found this when I had a few beers on ebay and bought it...

...And I'm very happy with it! :)

In between, I've had this...

...And this...

...And these...

...(The white Shogun is for sale right now too!)

And had a couple of these...

(This one went to Italy and never came back but my Mum now has the other one.)

And I also have this in my driveway...

...Which is great, but I am soooo happy to be back in an Omega! :)

Oh yeah, and this is in my garage. It's my Son's car and he's learning to weld on it! :)

:)

Fair spread of motors there then! Was the XJ the R version?I know they had the mesh grille, but quite a few owners fit that to the n/a version. The Mercedes looks very nice indeed.

Yes, the Jag was, (still is), and XJR8. Stupid fast if you could keep it in a straight line and actually running properly at the same time.

Like I say, I really wanted to like it but couldn't. If it could offer the same style but have the Merc's characteristics it'd be a winner but it just didn't.

My word!

I have a few years to consider that, (I hope!)

It doesn't come itself you know! LOL

Probably about 6-7 years since I last logged on here. It's comforting that guys like you are still here. :)

And it's only a few Omega die hards that still have an Omega. Mine was replaced with a R Class Merc  ;)

You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave! "  ::) ::)

Now, there's a thing!

Been trying to talk SWMBO into something other than a Shogun and found the R-Class along the way. (She's stuck on a Shogun!)

The downsides are that they're only 6 seats and she doesn't like my S-ClassL.

I'm interested to hear what you think of it. They look like cracking value, (Ugly as sin though!), and if they're anything like the S-Class, you have my attentionl

Cars later than mine (07 plate) are 7 seaters 2x3x2 Mine is a R320 ie 3.0 diseasal, it has Airmatic suspension and tows my caravan effortlessly. It's a great car. You have to decide what you want in the way of toys as they are almost all different from each other re options

How big is your caravan?

Ours weighs in at about 1700kgs and is a '640' excluding the drawbar.

The Shogun manages it fine but could use a little more 'oomph'.

Later models you say? Might be a bit above my pricepoint and I'm sure there are none for sale up here but I'll have another look...

Can't seem to be able to edit my posts, but...

...They seem to be very capable cars. I wouldn't mind one in the slightest.

Unfortunately I don't think SWMBO will go for one. :-/

Our caravan is a Lunar 520/2 so although not small isn't as heavy as yours, unladen is just over a tonne and max weight is about 1400kg IIRC 224bhp & 375lbft Towing it does about 22/23, around town is mid/high 20 and if you're not too enthusiastic on the motorway you can see low 30s. The last time I drove to your part of the world I got 32mpg at a steady 75mph
There's never that many for sale at any one time but if you want one I'm sure you'll find it if you wait.
