My expectations of anything from egay is pretty low, as regular members will know. BUT...

I've used it to buy shite 10 times this year. How many refund/return requests have I had to submit this year? Yup, 10  >:(

Its just full of idiots who clearly don't understand that full working order means it has to reasonable do what its supposed to do.If your tat is broken or on its last legs so it won't survived a courier, FFS bin it you useless self-abusers  >:(.  And its not just on "used" items, that includes "new" stuff as well.

Grrrr.

You must actively seek out sellers with shitty feedback!  ;D

Good advice, but if someone has been selling electronic downloads for 10p each to get his ratings up and then swaps the site with dodgy gear then what do you do.

Got to admit that the bay has definitely gone down hill over the last few years, but luckily I've never had one bad buy off it & that includes several cars over the years.

I think I'v been really lucky with my purchases, bought 4 cars (unseen other than photos) and other smaller purchases have all come trouble free. (touch wood)  :)

No trouble here either, 2 x cars unseen and many other items, no complaints on any of them.

 :) :)

First rule, never buy from anyone sporting a sub 95% feedback, or 99% if they have more than 1000.

Ebay has become absolutely ruined by the far east sellers selling fake tat and claiming to be UK based, and has always suffered from (it original roots) joe public selling their used goods that should really be fit for landfill only.

And its the reasoning for some of the junk (usually for something that doesn't work, "you can use part of it") or delayed postage (you can guarantee the answer will be a stint in hospital), or the idiot a few weeks ago who used a 5 day courier not the promised 24hr courier wondering why I returned it because it arrived too late - I needed it in a hurry, that's why I chose his piece of tat out of all the ones on offer.

15yrs ago, it was a viable place to buy from, much like car boots in the early 90s, before they got ruined by the traders and wannabe antiques dealers.

I know this won't mean a lot to most on here, TB, but a similar thing has happened to the al fresco market at Camden Lock, North London. It started out as a trendy use for the old horse hospital and stables, with all sorts of art and craft stalls and items that you couldn't get anywhere else, plus a magnificent range of ethnic food stalls - all at reasonable prices.
In moves the "gentrifiers" and commercial interests, who pretty it up, ruin the atmosphere and introduce tourist tat at inflated prices.
Also, the weirdos who were great for people-watching have all but disappeared!

I totally agree with TB about the far east and sellers feedback, it's an auction site 1st and foremost, not a relisting buy it now shop front.

I used to use a site called ebase5 and would never touch EB and only ended up there because EB bought them out and shut them down.

I would love to sell a lot of the stuff I have accumulated over the years as I cant do with people coming to the house and being nosey.  But with the way they have structured cost's and other expences it's just not worth it.  But yet they have a fixed fee setup for selling cars no matter what the value (unless that has changed as well)

Sons girlfriend sold a pair of shoes last week. Buyer opted to collect from her local Argos but didn,t bother so somehow it ended up being sent to my address via Royal Mail. Son had to get her address then got me to post it to her. At least she has paid for the extra postage but it,s a bit of fafing around just because she was too idle to pick it up in the first place. >:(

I have no issues with the charges as a seller (not that I sell any more, as egay is universally full of retards now), as I have some understanding of their costs, and with most people using ad blockers, the fees are now their only revenue source.  And same with Paypal - their charges are incredibly reasonable for low throughput clearing house.
