Less for the same price
« on: 17 May 2016, 11:14:10 »

Anyone else noticed how manufacturers are selling us household stuff  with less for the same price.?

Latest thing we have spotted is toilet rolls. My Mum had a stockpile of one brand. Down to last packet. My dad buys the same brand and packaging. The cardboard roll in the middle is bigger diameter. Crucially same number of sheets but they are thinner.  So you use more per sitting and end up buying more.

Toilet Rolls have always been a sore subject in this household (may have to rephrase that), why is it some lightly packed flimsy recycled toilet paper that you can lift up with your little finger (definitely have to rephrase that one) Costs £££'s and yet you can buy a heavy Ream (500 sheets) of quality Ink Jet Paper for Pennies.   >:(

Jars of instant coffee. Used to be 200gr, now often 190 or 180.

But then at a later stage they announce " Now Bigger " and increase back to the original size/quantity, and then it all starts again.  >:(

NO! The size of Wagon Wheels has definitely reduced significantly with time, being in fact a benchmark of "progress" in our society and an augury of its collapse into oblivion; it probably caused the destruction of Pompeii and the demise of the dinosaurs........

Yes.....I could bore for England when it comes downsizing.

If manufactures insist on putting less in, then the overall size of the packaging should also be reduced.

Often it is not. Bastards. >:(

I could never eat those things, the cream was far, far too sweet for me.

I tend to go months without chocolate, then I'll get a craving, binged for 2 or 3 days till its runs out, then go without for months again.

My favs, normally biscuit variety, Wagon Wheels, Club Chocolate Orange, Dark Choc Digestives, Maryland Cookies and Orange or Mint Aero.

Ballards, off to Poundland now.

I wish, Lidl and Aldi are cheaper for Chocy Biscuits, unfortunately Poundland is nearer.

Cadburys insist that isn't true, and claim they would need new machinery to do it.

New packaging design is always a good sign that they're changing the quantity.
