Good for you. I bet it was nerve wracking.

Fingers crossed for a good outcome.  :y

Looking for a job in "later years" cannot be easy. I'm kind of in that position.

Too young to completely retire and without a fat-cat pension pot, too old to be an ambitious go-getter.

If they give you any grief, just tell them f off, then present your demands, if that doesn't work just keep punching them in the center of the face until they agree, used to work for me all the time until I got tennis elbow.  :y

Now let me guess. You are a social worker, or maybe work for ACAS ?    ;D

Do you have to pay national insurance, stamp etc, after 65.I know that I will pay income tax etc,but are worried what else will they take.My dealings with the IR lately have been not very friendly.

I'm pretty sure you don't pay NI after retirement age. :y

Correct and remember also, if you have a better half who is not using all their tax allowance, you can use some of theirs to minimise your tax outgoings.

I'm going to do a bit of a u turn on my post about being retired, retired yes....but the thing that I miss more than anything, is being around lots of people in the work environment. So although I made a plan to spend this summer doing some work on my house and do the final fettling on the three Omegas and doing some ABS/ VXR meets and shows, I am already thinking that after working for 50+ years I'm starting to think that I've dropped a goolie and I know that if I listen to my ex boss I'll be back working... like tomorrow. So I'm going to try hard and stay retired, but I'm still getting up at 5 a.m 7days a week and can't shake the feeling that I should still be out there  :-\
