Clutch switch plug / what colour are the wires ?
« on: 09 June 2016, 15:19:38 »

Gis a clue

I've got the 2 pin switch and have the fuse / relay boxes hanging out.
I've also removed the fuse box door for access but can I hell as find the mystery plug for this switch  :-[
Most of the under dash loom is unwrapped and I found the 4 wires which run to the brake pedal switch with ease but still no luck  :-[

Anybody know what colour the wires are on this invisible switch are ?
It might be easier to find the wires then trace to the plug  :-\

Also been blind without these glasses is a friggin pain in the arse because every time I stick my head under the dash, the oppsers fall off the end of my nose and can't see a bloody thing   >:( >:(

Oh yeh, i've stabbed myself with a Stanley knife while removing the loom tape so I think its fare to say, i'm having a bad day  >:(

Auto to Manual conversion Rob  :y

ECU needs a pulse from the clutch on gear change to let it know when to drop off the revs or it holds on to them for the torque convertors benefit  ;)
Mark has already done the Tech 2 bits but it is still showing gearbox faults due to the switch  :-\

It would also be nice to have the cruise working again  :)

Oh FFS  :(

Don't suppose you can get the plug separate so I can splice it into the cruise cut off circuit on the brake pedal ?

Would the lads who have 3.2 police specials or converted FL converted auto to manuals with a working cruise care to help out on this please

Okay since I left the masters abode a couple of weeks ago after the tech 2 session, the EML light has been on.
I left it because I thought he clutch switch was causing it and this would clear when the offending switch was fitted.

Right, i've just plugged my slightly dodgy laptop based "My Naff Code Reader" friend in and this lot came up  :(

P0650  (4) Present
P1700  (8) ---"---
P1700  (0) ---"---
P0170  (9) Not present
P0150  (5) Intermittent
P0150  (F) -----"-----
P0150  (4) Not present

I cleared the lot and restarted the engine then re run the code check to find this  :(

P0650 (4) Intermittent
P1700 (0) -----"------
P1700 (8) -----"------

This lot have returned and even after clearing, return after start up  >:(

IS this lot down to the switch been missing ?
Could this lot cause the revs to hold on when changing gear ?

Other than the lack of cruise and the gear change been a ball ache when changing quickly, the can runs absolutely great  :y :y

On the Non DBW, one of the pins on the ECU gets a High or Low from the main loom, that tells the ECU whether its an Auto or Manual Gearbox fitted, cant image it would be much different on the DBW.

When I had a intermittent start problem on a 3.2 Auto, and having changed the Crank Sensor twice  ::), I borrowed the ECU from my 3.2 Manual Plod and vice versa, and the fault moved with the ECU confirming my thought about a faulty ECU, point being, neither cars complained about having an swooped ECU from a different GearBox and no codes was thrown up.

Cant remember if I checked the Cruise during all this, as the Plod doesn't have Cruise Stalk, but would have though it should have worked ok if the ECU was Cruise enabled.

If I get a chance this weekend I'll check if the 3.2 Plod Manual has a Clutch Switch fitted.

Cheers Chris  :)

Either way, to get the cruise working, I need a clutch switch sorting  :y
I might be totally wrong on this but i'm wondering it something on the Tech 2 session hasn't taken  :-\

I've just been down the M62 for the cars weekly blast and it drove great with the exception of the revs holding on when changing gear  >:(
Put it this way, I visited some back roads on the way back and on a couple of occasions, I gave it some welly in the first 3 gears (as you do  :D)
Between 1 and 2 and 2 and 3, the revs would hold on for upto 5 seconds with the clutch depressed and the foot totally off the gas pedal  :(
And even then, the revs would seem to drop off in stages instead of just dropping to idle when the clutch is disengaged and the foot was totally off the gas  :(

Certainly one confused gonads here  :(

Good point Al  :-\

Gis a clue, were is this magic box and i'll check in morning  :y

Tbh, that weekend was a bit of a blur  ::)
I did 4, 12 hour night shifts then drove back home from darn south that Saturday morning  :(
Toughed it out until 10pm then went to bed.
Spent Sunday trying to work out what day it was then back on the road to Sereks at 6am Monday morning !!
So to say I was knackered is the understatement of the friggin century and if i'm honest, I haven't got much of a clue what went on that day  :-[
