Well had glovebox off and checked solenoid and its working, then checked suction at HBV which there was, so i guess the new HBV isn't closing or sealing properly. Well at least its not leaking,i did check it before fitting but how important is it if i have heat inside and it doesn't leak? It may clash with aircon if used?

Again...

Airconditioning and the heater are two separate systems controlled by a single, easy to use, control panel. Together they form the climate control system ;)

Still not sure what the problem is that you have, beyond the fact that of two cars, only one has working airconditioning :-\

Regardless of Eco on/off (ie aircon off/on), is the cabin air hot when set to Hi, and cooler (cold with aircon on) when set to Lo?

If yes to both, it's working as it should.

Because the ambient temperature is about 20° and you've turned the airconditioning off ::)

Is it hotter than when set to Hi?

No
Then it's all working as it should ;)

Now you just need to sort out what's wrong with the other car...

Be useful to know what ages both cars are... all face-lift Omegas have dual zone climate control, but this was only fitted to Elite models on prefacelift cars, most of the rest have aiconditioning and manually controlled heater systems. If differing ages/specs, then it might behave differently...

Both 2001 one an elite other cdx, both 2.6.The other car i've had for 10 years and apart from ac not working its never really had a problem. The new elite had the HBV problem and i've never driven it on the road yet but soon i hope! I think the new HBV isn't working correctly and is letting hot water through all the time but if it doesn't cause a problem then that's fine and i've got heating.I'm sure if one of the members drives this time of the year with the heating off then feeling the pipes by the expansion bottle then if hot or cold i would know the correct answer. But whether its a problem is another matter as the one with cold pipes is just fine i'm sure
