A mate of mine from school was from Aus and ended up working for Holden Special Vehicles. Wish I'd kept in touch. :-[

There's plenty off companies that will box a car up and arrange shipping to Southampton, based in UK, or you can get monkfish to do the work for you basically they become the agent.
Best of all the steering wheel be on the proper side  :y

They source the car, arrange shipping, import etc all for a set fee. It use to cost £2000, to ship a car from Australia in a 20ft box.

Also remember the pound is strong, I think about £1 to $2 aus. 8)

As I might well be emigrating in the next couple of years...  :-X ;)

By the time you get there, Holden, Ford and Toyota will have closed all their factories in Australia. All cars sold in Australia will be imported. Anything sold as a Holden will be a re-badged something else, a bit like most Vauxhalls are produced elsewhere and are re-badged Opels.

Yep. Holden are dying, sadly. The last properly sorted rear-drive platform in GM's stable.

Big engined rear drive saloons are dinosaurs. It's the Cretaceous period, and the asteroid is coming.  :'(

Importing from OZ could be a bit of a crap shoot unless, there's someone down there that could be trusted to source a quality car and  take on the the export logistics etc.I know that when having a chat with BG a few months back and he did suggest that as I was in the market for an R8 then bringing in a import from down under could have been the way to go,as the road tax would have been cheaper as one advantage.I have plans to buy another R8 and have looked at the UK based cars that are for sale and why buy a ragged to death UK high miler for 20k IF it's possible to import a newer low mileage car from down under.Sounds like plan but not a clue how to kick it off :-\

As I might well be emigrating in the next couple of years...  :-X ;)

But my plan was to go for a trip over each time and source vehicles myself. We have very good friends in the Melbourne area and it would make trips out there a little more affordable if there was a contribution coming from an import business. Trouble is, I only see a very limited market for it :-\
The factory lpg 3.6 could have potential... ;)

Ive given up with all this V6 / V8 rubbish, far to impractical, from now on Im going down the 1.4 desmond route, the Omegas are nice big cars with plenty room under the bonnet and in the boot, so fitting 1.4 lumps should't be an issue.     .....one for each wheel of course.

There are two things against the 2.3 Mustang for me: the bizarre pricing that makes a V8 barely any more expensive; and its appearance.

.. aside from the ridicule a "4 pot Mustang" would attract wherever you drive it. ;D

The ECOBoost engine does look interesting.. for a kit car or something, but in a Mustang it's about as wrong as the Gen 3 Mustang's styling was. And that's saying something. :o

Many Mustangs have had 4 pots, many more used straight sixes. Some had V8s. Considering the Eco-boost makes considerably more power than the previous 4.6 V8, I still can't understand only a V8 is acceptable cult.

I almost bought a brand new 5.0 ltr Mustang when shopping for an R8....regrettably it was a left hooker and unbelievably it was 5 grand less than the R8 that I finally settled on.But the UK spec cars are around 35 grand and that was just a bit to rich for me,also smaller engine and no supercharger.but no slouch on the 0-60 figures though. :o

Also the V8 has a strong following, as I found at the Topcats Racing V8 power launch back in April....hundreds of cars and people, and whichever meet you attend, the numbers show that people would be reluctant to give them up :-*
