Advice needed on where to go for Tracking please.
« on: 20 June 2016, 22:53:07 »

I was alarmed to find today that both my front tyres, which have only done about 4k, are seriously worn on the inside of the tread. just where they are the hardest to see.
I assume this is the 'camber' setting in the main that causes this inside wear and now obviously need to get it seen to but the question is where?

I read that the reputation of WIM has suffered of late, and wondered if any of you guys have any recommendations in the Sussex area or thereabouts ?

Theres a lesson here by the way, check your tyres regularly!

Give these guys a shout :y Have used them to good effect, not the cheapest but they have decent gear, and will set the Omega up 'better than in the green' once they know you're serious about it being just so... my first visit involved a bit of discussion that the car wasn't that fussy, but they did the job...  ::)

Alternatively SE Tyres in Henfield, not used them, but they have the gear to do it properly...

Firstly, you need to establish if it's poor settings or actual wear of parts. No point getting it set up, only to have to re do ir a week later once parts are found to be shot. Have you got the other bits yet? :-\

The mig can't be tracked,  it needs a four wheel alignment  on a hunter machine

Kwikfit have them and so do germanic specialists

Not strictly true... depends on what the issue is... sloppy previous set up can be tweaked out, worn parts cannot.

Paul, might be worth taking it to SE Tyres in Henfield to get it checked for current settings will cost about £35-45, but if camber is ok, and there's no other wear evident, it might benefit from the tracking being tweaked but be more than happy to give it a once over with the other bits first. Can Aome along to the garage if it helps. I am around on Friday, PM me if that's any good for you :y

LOL is that sarcasm or needed work?
I had my old c280 aligned  years ago,  was the best work carried out on it, but it cost 90 odd quid at an German indy in deal

Now it's about 50 at Kwikfit

Generally speaking, Kwikfit are best avoided. They may, or may not be competent, but they chronically upsell. Knowing the Omega, and knowing the standard of the Kwikfits in the OPs area, it is impossible for me to recommend them :-X

Doctor Gollum, You said give these guys a shout in your first post but forgot to say who ?

Your offer to go to Henfield with me is most kind and would certainly be very helpful.
I have however developed yet another problem since we last spoke, which has prevented me from running up to get those other bits.

Car running great, no signs of any problems until one morning a completely flat battery, not a sausage.

charged it up to 14.3v slapped it back on and off it went.

All good for 3 days then in Tesco car park completely flat battery again.
Rac jump start, starts immediately, man checks alternator and other stuff and says all good, but battery cells not holding charge.

Go home and charge up old (new) battery from the scrapped diesel, put on car, starts immediately, takes it for a little run and parks up for the night.
Next morning dead as a dodo.
Replace with old battery which was charged up just in case and off we go.
Went about 6 miles and had to stop and wait for someone so put it in park and then it would not come out of park.
Remmembered the remove gearstick gaitor and move yellow switchy thing trick, but not being sure of things I switched off ignition first.
tried to restart engine in neutral, battery dead as dodo. same in park and could never get it out of park, so basicaly beggard all round
Got jump start in the end and tried to drive home, made it all but a 1/2 mile from home when I ran out of electricity, then got towed home by kindly stranger.

Can the park switch problem cause a flat battery? Anyway, It seems that this particular problem has to be sorted before I can drive to get the others sorted out.

 :( :(

I had this on my 2.5cdx. It ended up being the glove box light

Funny thing is the box couldn't open so when I put it back in I connected the light a thought nothing of it till it died then remembered what I had done,  then bought a new battery
