Poorboys trim restorer
« on: 30 June 2016, 18:44:19 »

So bloke at work loves his cleaning / detailing products. Sadly this has rubbed off on me after seeing some of the results.

I asked to use his trim restorer just to see if it's any good. Thinking it was just gimmicky crap I was actually amazed with the result!!! It looks quality!

With a spring in my step I get straight on the net for some detailing essentials. The PB trim restorer is stupidly expensive.

Is there an alternative that's just as good and cheaper?

No wonder it's called poor boys.... you break the bank buying this stuff!!!!

Try this stuff  A squirt from a cheap spray bottle and wipe with a soft cloth gives even the dullest dark trim a nice gleam without any greasy residue. It doesn't attract dust, and each application lasts for months. I use it on everything that isn't leather or cloth inside the car, and all the black trim outside. 5l costs about £15, and I'm about half way through some that I bought about 4 years ago.

I use this stuff LINK one application can last up to 2 years, Just use a little IPA / alcohol wipes prior to application to get the best results. It's expensive stuff but it does last unlike most trim restorers that last a few weeks / months.

Heat gun then rub on some linseed oil has never let me down with faded black plastics , get it the wrong way round though and your car will burn out, it's highly flammable stuff !

Peanut butter ( smooth ) works a treat too :y

Auto Finesse Revive is terrific - MrsGK has just bought me a huge bottle to replace the sample size I got off her two Xmases ago.
Also BlackWow is another good one.  :y

Agreed. Anything else is a waste of time and money.

Peanut oil is great for the trims,, using linseed oil isn't good if you go abroad or in areas where the security dogs are used, this stuff will get their attention and you may have a car search...
Mate of mine did on a raf base.
