Thatcher did win two three general elections, in my view she was our finest PM since Churchill.

She divided the country. The top half couldn't stand the sight of her. ::) ::) :)

It looks like the 'Establishment' have their knives out for Leadsom, and are making much of her 'sexed up' CV!  ::)

Seems to me that this makes her eminently qualified for the job!  :y

Never fear, when it all goes tits-up - which is exactly what Boris is waiting for -  he will modestly and reluctantly take over and be our new PM.....

Nah, he's far too clever.  He knows what a monumental mess lies ahead for the next generation or more...

My point in a nutshell, TB - that is exactly why he isn't seeking Premiership now, he knows what a poisoned chalice it is for whomever gets the post!
He is waiting in the wings for it all to go pear-shaped and come riding in on the white horse.....

I don't think so.  The £350 million a week bus will always come back to haunt him.  ;)

They elected the joke candidate before, when they chose Thatcher - do they NEVER learn from their mistakes?

Ron.
What about IDS and Hague, They didn,t exactly set the world on fire when they were opposition leaders.

He stood down as Mayor to take a seat in the commons for the sole reason of becoming PM. Next time the opportunity comes along, he will grab it with both hands.  ;)
He wants it almost as badly as Theresa May does.  :)

If you look back at the state of the country pre Thatcher, it was an utter basket case, a joke of a country on the world stage and way beyond bankrupt.
If she hadn't come along and took the hard decisions (some of which she got wrong, admittedly) I shudder to think what would have become of this country. Hence, hindsight allows me to be convinced she was the best PM of my lifetime, by some margin.  ;)
All PM,s since have been political pygmies.

Bit of a paradox going on...

A women is/are mutually exclusive... not sure two witches constitutes a coven either :-\

That said, at least they seem to be forming some sort of concensus, so hopefully the more pressing matter of Article 50 can be dealt with sooner rather than later...

Following the events of the last 2 weeks, even the OUTers seem to be taking the view that we shouldn't rush it. WTF?

I see no good reason why it shouldn't be invoked this year. It would concentrate minds and force people to get on with the job instead of fannying around and obsessing about their own careers etc.
Politicians though............ ::)

Whether or not you agree with the outcome, the country has voted (again, rightly or wrongly), and thus the process should be kicked off straight away.

I suspect those that have a reputation to uphold who were the public faces of Brexit, those that no longer want a front seat, have realised the monumental cock-up they have helped cause, and thus decided to stand down as party leaders or not run for PM. But before they did, even they were calling for a period of reflection first.

As you say, politicians.... ;)
