vacuum pump removal
« on: 08 July 2016, 10:36:09 »

on a 2.2 td the vacuum pump is situated at the rear of the engine  under the scuttle. will the scuttle have to be removed to access the darn thing as apart from not seeing what ones doing there is not a lot of room to get a torx socket & be able to use the ratchet. bearing in mind the object is eventually to remove the head. ( on reading back it sounds as if I v,e answered my own query ) Yes ,

I am not built to be a contortionist & trying to remove the 4 small torx bolts that held the vacuum pump took me all afternoon to release them. removed scuttle & did help a little, but still found it hard to as they were tight plus simply no room to work. one thing I want to add. I followed that good guide re scuttle / wiper removal. drivers side wiper came off ok, other one was a pig & I remembered I have a ball joint splitter & that worked a treat.  :y
