2002 2.2 petrol exhaust
« on: 20 July 2016, 15:51:45 »

After 14 years my Omega has finally got an advisory at an mot! "Small hole in exhaust" Although traumatised I suppose it is time to fit a new one. Should I go to a main dealer or are the Gerlach ones on e-bay any good? Only need it from the cat back.

Avoid main dealer at all costs, not what they used to be.

Go Etneral off ebay, should be around £65 cat back.  :y

Get the 2.0 system, there is no performance impact on the 2.2, far easier to fit as well  :y

I got a Gerlach exhaust for my 2.2 last year. So far very good, well made from good quality steel. Got the full version (two pipes) for not much more than the 2.0 would have cost. Guy who fitted it for me said that it was the easiest exhaust that he has fitted. Perhaps he hadn,t done many ;D

I will do just that, why have more pipework than you need! Thanks to all who replied.

Only thing to note for the 2.0 system, is due to the FL's bigger bumpers it can sit a little shallow/tad far back.

So you can fit a trim on the end, which improves appearance. I've done this on the 2.2 but not bothered on my 3.2, both of which run Eternal  :)

2.0 works just fine on 2.2, I should know having run 2.0 system on my 2.2 for the last 6 years and 70k  :y

2.2 exhaust has twin centre silencers and is the correct one for that engine. The tailpipe will fit the bumper properly too  :y

All personal preference though.
