Expansion tank
« on: 01 August 2016, 11:56:54 »

Hi all....
Can anyone supply a link to anyone who sells the expansion tanks (new) and have them in stock. I have tried Googling, Bing, E-Bay etc, but I can't, as of yet, find anyone selling them. Need the one with a sensor (2003, 2.6) Place where I got my last one has not got any.
I expect Vx, if they still stock them, will be horrendous price.
Its not an end of the world problem. Coolant Level check comes on when the temp gets to about 92deg, despite it being full of coolant. Goes off again after a while, when you get going and the temp drops to 85deg or less.
Just that one day, it may tell the truth, and I will ignore it. :y

I live in Finland, ordered from our local Opel/Vx seller (known of high prices). It eventually came from Germany brand new tank ~90 euros. So just saying that I don't believe that's high price from the tank so you should ask from Vx  :y

I was too slow sorry, but as I'd already asked VX in Poole have one in stock, £39.78 +vat (TC). If you were down this way happy to pick it up for you on TC.

They've shot up. £25+VAT (trade, as not TC item) was the usual price for several years, as still was that last year.

No problem, Steve. I won't be down until September, but thanks for thinking of me

I actually ordered a timing belt kit from VCP and paid extra for it to be delivered as soon as possible but I waited a week and nothing turned up so it was cancelled and I had to buy one from eurocarparts instead.

Do these sensors fail for various reasons, like mine which is perfect, unless you get to 92 degrees, or could it be combined with another temperature part. Or is it usually total failure.
Wondering if it is worth giving it a good flushing with something, once its off, or am I wasting my time. Thought about fitting it to the 2.5, as it is in 'as new condition' regards colour. I won't disconnect the sensor....too paranoid for that !!!!. :y

Sensor out, its a reed relay.

So faults:
Float stick in bottle *
Magnetic ring in poor condition *
Failed reed
Dry joint on reed #
Wiring

* - common, # - not uncommon
