Just make sure you get the V6 not the older S6.  That's a heavy ass POS.  Neither are particularly fuel effecient mind.

Having owned a Merc I can't say it was particularly well screwed together.

Quite a lot of cheap plastics in the one I had.

Looks perfect for the elderly gentleman. ;)

Does it come with blinkers just in case the cataracts aren't sufficiently bad to render you oblivious to everything else on the road?  ::)

I've always fancied a Merc, but the seats! I've always found them, like the Insignia, too hard for my boney bum,  unlike the armchair comfort of my Omegas. ::) :y

That's the trouble with buying used... Hardly anyone specs the £2,000 comfort seats  :'(

I'm not expecting it to be as luxurious as my astra, Chris.

I find that one of the 'faults' with MB is that their basic cars are very basic, and all the nice bits are options, so any used MB is going to be what the first owner spec'd it as, making all similar models different from each other.

Not sure if I'd have another  :-\

After a lot of research, just found out that merc started putting DPF's in cdi models in 2005, the very year this car was made. That's totally put me off it.....an eleven year old dpf that's done well over 100,000 miles.
I was kind of hoping to get a reasonable mpg while footling around and thought a car as old as this would be DPF free. Never mind, plenty more fish in the sea.

DPF failure is not the only expensive issue with cdi engines.

Straight swap for mine, I reckon:

http://www.westfieldmotorhouse.co.uk/used-cars/mercedes-benz-e-class-3-0-e320-cdi-avantgarde-7g-tronic-5dr-bradford-201606094770170

If I hadn't not long bought something else, I'd be very tempted. And this is cheaper.

I get fed up hearing dpf horror stories, most are hearsay not actual experience. Just go for a day trip to somewhere a long way off and really nice. Like Wales ! That will sort the dpf out  :y

Keep reading, the CLS 320 CDi I was looking at had no DPF's right up to 2008  :y

You can easily decode the Merc VIN codes via an App, it will list if it has it.
