Wanted - AR25 / AR35 large sump
« on: 30 August 2016, 19:11:15 »

I have recently changed the fluid, filter and sump gaskets on the AR25 fitted to my Omega.  The little sump was fine, but for some unknown reason, a previous owner had bodged some chemical metal over the top of a very well rounded off filler plug on the large sump. It was also apparent that the mating surface of the sump wasn't completely straight as someone had clearly used force. Consequently, I now have a slight dribble from there, not good when I've fixed the engine oil leak only fit the transmission to start!

Ideally, I'd like to replace my sump with one that it is straight and that has a decent drain plug.  I can also flush the fluid out again to get as much of the old out as possible.

Does anyone have one spare?

(Admin, I can't post in the correct section of the forum, but feel free to move this post as required)

Save your bother, and text me! haha. Got one here, knackered plug, but got a mate working on freeing the old plug as we speak. Sadly I inadvertently messed about a fellow oofer recently, who was after the same as you. I could have sworn the plug would come out fine, but it didn't. Anyway, as time was of the essence for him, we had to leave it. But by now I reckon that plug'll be out fine. Plug is a plug is a plug, just need something of the right thread (or I can nab one from the scrappy next time I'm in, whatever)  :y

Nice one mate, I had it in my head that your spares car was manual for some reason. It's the sump pan itself I'm most bothered about, as the corner by the filler plug is ever so slightly not straight, and I have a little leak from there. My filler plug was a bugger to get out, some heat and mole grips did the trick, made much easier with the pan being off the gearbox. If there was a seperate filler tube, then I'd have left it as it was!

Spares car is auto, yes, but its not from that, it's Pissy's original sump, which I couldnt get the plug out of. Needed getting in a vice and a breaker bar on it, now its out. But in the short term (as we were right in the middle of a box oil change) we had to refit the sump, drive to a mate who had one, and then fit that one. In theory I could keep that and refit it next time we go the gearbox oil, but... why?

Can be posted if you're not up this way any time soon.  :)

If you can keep hold of it for now, that would be perfect. There's a half chance I might be doing an odd days tractor driving on my mates farm in Covenham soon, if I do then I could always  pop round on my way home. It's not desperate just yet, leaks more when it is stood than running as I think the level in the sump is a bit higher then. It's not that hard to keep topping it up, I just need to stop it leaking so I can actually park it on the driveway!
