Hi. Have a 2.6 V6 auto 03 plate.
Runs perfectly when cold, kickdown full power etc, But when warm ish  / restart after short run  misfire and stalls restarts in "safe mode" max 4000 revs.  Then eventually gets properly warmed up and goes back to running ok on full power.  What causes temp sensitive? Any sensors checking temp and throttle?  Been running on V-Power petrol for weeks.

Yes looked at pedal trick but showing crank sensor that I have been told is almost a "stanbdard response" and does not really explain the temp issues.

MAF is a likely cause, and is easily diagnosed: disconnect it and see if the problem improves. The EML will be on, but will go out when you plug the MAF back in.


You need to be sure of the diagnosis, because a new MAF is expensive.

Mis fire can be caused by oil in plug-wells(common fault), water going onto coil packs, O and spark plugs.
I doubt a failing crank sensor would cause a mis-fire, they either work or not (on or off).

Doing the pedal trick on a DBW V6 should not give ANY codes if the car is in conditions so you do have at least a faulty crank sensor. Which also fits to description of fault. It will first play up like you wrote especially when warm and then all of a sudden the car won't start at all. Misfire is another fault, not affected by crank sensor.

When crank sensor is just "about to fail  completely" it doesn't always store the code. Been there twice. But for sure this is a faulty crank sensor and it always pays to read the codes, esp. on DBW car where you can read codes easily even daily.

Oh, yes, indeed. Been there twice myself - fortunately the 2nd time I had a spare sensor in the boot

But any sign of a P0335 (DBW) or 19 (non DBW) on an Omega V6, expect a breakdown soon after.
