.... because 'Bake Off' are taking their Soggy Bottoms to Channel 4!!     What are we going to doooo?!        FFS! 

On a serious note I think the BBC should be congratulated for not spending ridiculous amounts of public money on one programme. 

If reports are to be believed. The BBC offered £15 million for the next series, but the production company wanted £25 million and Channel 4 snapped it up!    It probably makes business sense for Channel 4 in terms of what they will charge for advertising, but it seems a rare moment of common sense prevailed at the Beeb!

Not bothered whether this, BBC or another channel.... Miss DBG and Mum & Sister watch it avidly, of course. But this is an example of where a production company making a programme vs a channel making a programme causes issue. Same as when the Beeb binned (well, sold off) all their props - there is no such thing as 'the BBC Costume Department' contrary to popular belief. It's all outsourced (isn't everything in life) but it makes me cringe, the amount of middlemen all taking their little cut along the chain. Let's say it costs £1.5m to make 'The Great British Masterbakeoff' that wouldn't change from series 1 to series 5 (excluding inflation, presenters demanding higher wages blah blah) But here, because it's deemed a 'saleable' product from an outside production company they can essentially name their price to the highest bidder. Very Capitalist, and that's great, but scarcely giving value for money to the viewer.

If you're a girl, or gay enough to like such a program, does it matter what channel its on? Its still on a terrestrial free to air channel, so anyone can watch it.

I think the beeb need to slash budgets given to some of their other trashy programmes, like the One Show or Knobenders.

I can honestly say the wife & I have never watched it , so is of no interest who provides it for viewing , on the rare occasions we have cakes etc she makes them like her mum used to , don't need to watch any more ordinary people trying  to become famous .😁😁

If the reports are correct, I totally agree.

I know some here will call me Gay and whatever, but I love cooking AND eating AND drinking wine. Masterchef is interesting, Great Britsh Menu is but quite frankly GBBO or whatever its called is boring as Efff. Just mindless cashing in on the current TV fad for food. Good riddance. This has nothing to do with the fact that SWMBO fancies the pants off Hollywood    I certainly do NOT fancy the pants off Mary Berry
