Fence paint an stuff ?
« on: 17 September 2016, 16:01:48 »

I have about 10 litres of brush on fence paint . How or what do i use to thin it
enough to be able to spray it on via the 5litre pump action spray bottle  :-\
I tried thinners but the bottle just keeps getting clogged up  :(

Is it water based?, although if you've mixed thinners with it already might be a bit late.

:( Sadly I've found the water based stuff to be a waste of time , it just doesn't last very long ,

Yes if you're watering down water based fence stain it'll wash off in the next shower!  ::)

The only way I've had success with the stuff is to layer it on so thick you might as well use a trowel!  ;D

O for creosote!  :'(

Well i'll water it down and spray it all on . Either that or chuck it away  ::) Brushing it on doesn't last long anyway . Tried all sorts of paints and none of them last , they all just wash off , even engine oil  ::)

Considering the forum habit of changing the oil every other time they start the engine, there must be a good supply of it! Dad paints the line and fence posts with some of the waste oil I end up with.

When I was a boy in tut war, working on the land, any oil that came out of a tractor or such like was saved up till winter, then barns were painted with it, or used to burn out ditches.

There must be a myriad of EU regulations forbidding that sort of thing these days!  ;D

I saw a stubble fire a month or two ago whilst flying my glider. Tried to get into the thermal above it but the smoke was too thick. ;D

Next to it was another field that had clearly burnt recently, so I'd be surprised if it was an "accident". :-\
