Don't get me wrong here - I have every admiration for McMillan and the things they do....... god knows I do, as the misses and myself have relied on their support and advice over the last 6 months since diagnosis and subsequent treatment. That sentiment also goes to a lot of other charities, of which I'm happy to put my hand in my pocket to help support the work they do.

The means of raising money, or giving up something to achieve that is questionable and personal. Each to their own I say, cheers, mines a pint!

Can't remember the last time I had an alcoholic drink :-\
Had a beer with dinner on Friday, and was going to have one with dinner at work today. Plan was on track until I got to Security...

Apparently stubbies are 150ml too big :D

The idea is to raise funds for McMillan cancer support.
One of a handful of worthwhile charities IMHO :y

However, they really pissed me off a couple of years back when they refused to take a, admittedly modest, one-off donation from me, instead hard pushing for a £3 a month direct debit.  So they ended up with nothing.

I don't mind coughing up to charity now and again, but I refuse to do that. It sounds ok at first, but then it carries on forever and in the future you wonder what that £3 is that disappears from your bank account. Nope  :(

Its not even that for me, I want to remain anonymous when I give. Not out of some self righteous idealism, but because they are like parasites, constantly pestering for that £3 to be £5 and so on.

After a rather heavy night on Friday in Paris (I blame my old rugby buddies who led me astray) I have decided to join you in taking a month off the sauce.

It should do me a lot of good :y

Agree.... I used to give £6/month to RSPCA via DD .... then one evening I got a phone call asking me if I would up the amount to £10/month....they wrote to me the next month telling me the DD had failed and they haven't had a penny since...its a shame really as I think they are a good cause.....but if they are going to be greedy bastewards then that's their fault.
I now give £8 odd a month to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, another worthy cause imo, via their lottery

Street "chuggers" really p*ss me off  >:( I give to numerous charities but I like to decide how much and when I donate.
