An eventful day
« on: 06 October 2016, 16:38:59 »

So, today is "New Phone Day" for Mrs LD and I... We have gone back into the Fan Boy Fold because neither of us have managed to gel with Android.

There I am, merrily tracking the DPD driver with my shiny new handset when the Father in Law rings to say that Mother in Law has fallen in the garden and the Ambulance may be some time!

We jump into separate vehicles (because I'm on call!) and zoom over (only 6 miles or so) to find her laying on the driveway. Mrs LD takes charge of her dad and they go off to sort out bags and stuff whilst I'm left holding MiL's hand and keeping her calm. Now fortunately we are all trained first aiders to varying degrees (all expired though) so we all knew exactly what was going on.

Whilst you would think that my rather unsympathetic approach to things (sympathy is in the dictionary...) would probably mean I'm not the ideal person to sit with her but we have an understanding  :y

Anyway... ambulance rocks up about 30-45 minutes later and the crew were superb. Took a long time to get her stabilised and ready to move but got there eventually. Off to hospital with the thanks of the crew for just doing everything the right way, including assisting them with rolls, stabilising and lifting. Mrs LD heads in by car and spends the day with her (and more importantly him!) getting the facts. Right femur broken right at the hip with surgery scheduled for tomorrow.

Going to be a long few weeks now as MiL is the only driver and they live, like us, in the middle of nowhere. On top of that, FiL is not exactly great at doing anything for himself ::)

Still... New phones arrived slap bang inside the delivery window :y :D

Cheers... she's a stubborn old bird and will pull through just fine :y

Just going to be a bit of a PITA for a few weeks whilst she can't drive ::) We've already confiscated the car so she isn't tempted :-X ::)

Best wishes to Cakey's mum.  But if you're after sympathy, pluck out the Oxford Dictionary....

It's her right hip so will be a bit slow...

Car has been confiscated to make sure she doesn't try too early ;)
