Thinking of fitting a saloon exhaust to estate, don't!!
« on: 09 October 2016, 22:48:18 »

I'd been looking for a stainless steel exhaust for my v6 estate for ages but nothing until a jetex facelift saloon exhaust turns up on eBay, I did a deal and they guy was awesome waiting for a good time that he was travelling south for me to meet him, anyway it's way more work than I thought.

See here

Loads of small differences, tips arnt angled, different lenght pipes, all rear box brackets are wrong, pipes between mid section and back box are differnt angles and to short.

I was thinking a quick bracket tweek and lengthen the tail pipe would do the job but I started and couldn't stop, took a few hours of messing around welding and cutting over and over again but couldn't wait any longer for a estate exhaust to pop up and didn't want to pay £500 for new.

I'll get some pics tomorrow of the finish, it doesn't knock and looks square just don't knock the welding underneath hehe

Could have told you that over a cuppa before you left your house.

Be interested if you could actually make it fit though, guessing the petrol tank being in the way is going to be the biggest issue.

Yeah it's already on bud, I'm not sure it was worth the effort but my options were limited. It probably would have been easier if the back box sleeve pipe work didn't have a dent making it hard/impossible to fully slide on.

Ended up buying a pipe expansion set and fixed it properly, no amount of hammering and heating seemed to help.
