Will it fit?
« on: 13 November 2016, 12:27:52 »

As stated elsewhere I've managed to get Omega to my rented lock up.The rear tyres have a habit of going flat[not punctured],so until I can get them sealed on the rim/new valves or whatever I need something to put in their place.Obviously the spare from the boot will do for one side, the question is will the alloy wheel from a Senator B fit? It's not as though the car is going to be driven anywhere whilst it's fitted so road safety is not an issue.

careful that it clears the larger front brake caliper. Years ago I had some alloys on my 24v Senator refurb'd (turned out sh1te) and they fitted alloys from a Carlton that were only intended to fit a 12v that have smaller calipers. Needless to say they didn't check that they spun by hand as they fitted them, but the car wouldn't even move.

Omegas have a 15 inch diameter steel spare wheel but as far as I know the smallest diameter alloy wheel is 16 inch.

What diameter are the Senator wheels?

...

What diameter are the Senator wheels?

Generally 15" though Irmsher are 16"

The loan rims I had that fouled were 15" like the original.

Every so often you saw an Omega on ebay with Senator Cross spokes fitted ...... I've a feeling a few very early cars were fitted with them .... but willing to be proved wrong. But it's not just the dia of the rim that makes them foul the calipere, obviously the inner 'bore' of the rim is bigger to clear the bigger 24v caliper

Can't recall whether Senator wheel is a 15 or 16 inch, but yes as said it's to go on rear and car doesn't have to go anywhere,it's just to sit the car on whilst I get the tyres on the Omega sorted on the rims or get the valves changed to stop them keep going flat every couple of weeks or so.

It'll be a 15" then as it's one of the cross spoke alloys that most Senator Bs wore.
