I see Putin is moving missiles to Kalingrad.
To provoke NATO? Or as a result of NATO provocation?
Does the team (Rods2* incoming) think that Trump is going to earn plaudits by defusing the situation (probably already agreed with Putin), a solution to Syria and earn kudos in the New Year? In return Putin will be offered a lightening of trade sanctions which must be crippling the country.
*PS how are your health issues?
Tensions are ramping up with, which suits Putin's nationalist agenda as staying in power is always his number 1 priority and without an increase in oil prices, Russian financial reserves even with continued cuts in most areas except defense and internal security forces (which are both being expanded) the sovereign reserves will run out in 2017. To survive without a 1990's default and financial crash, he will have to use the pensioners wealth fund to fund the sovereign debts. Where Putin is currently being very aggressive the danger is another (and worse) MH17 type incident that the West can't ignore.
With two thin skinned vindictive, impulsive (although Putin is slightly more calculating) egotists as presidents of the two main nuclear powers, what could possibly go wrong?
Personally, I think Putin would have preferred Clinton being president as she is predictable (and like Trump has extensive business interests in Russia), with more and regular email revelations and Trump calling the election rigged this would have probably made her a dead-duck president.
Trump's body language has been for along time, that he's got further than he expected, where he doesn't really want the job. Now he has it, he is struggling right from the off in just forming his transition team.
Revelations are beginning to appear from Russian officials where Trump and he election team have been talking for the last 12 months with Russian officials, including a possible Yalta type agreement.
Sweden who are not exactly know for their military prowess these days have suddenly strengthened their forces and announced an increasing military buildup in 2017 on their pivotal Baltic island of Gotland, just before Putin started his major buildup in Kalingrad. Something is obviously going on here, but not sure what yet?
Thanks. hadn't seen the Gotland stuff. Submarine detection protection maybe? Maybe OPEC will agree production quotas and the price of oil will edge up a tad. Syria has said the post war rebuilding contracts will go to Russia first which will help.
Re your health. Some promising stuff there among the not so good.Fingers crossed for further improvement. I like your attitude. Bit like a friend who is going through tough times - he says onward and upward. Not sure how I would react.
